New clutch installed and will not let me put in gear when runningshut off tractor put in gear and try starting with clutch pedal pushed down and wants to start in gear.need advice or ideas on what to look at thanks for any help

Did you adjust the pedal freeplay?

Should have just a little free movement at the top before the release bearing touches the pressure plate fingers.

Too much freeplay and it won't have enough stroke to fully release. Too little and it will soon wear out the release bearing.

Could be the disc in backward.

Did you try sliding the disc on the input shaft to be sure it slid freely? If it's tight it will drag.

How hard was the engine to stab back in? Was a alignment shaft used? If it wasn;t aligned, was a real struggle, allowed to hang on the input shaft, or had to be forced, drawn together with bolts, something may have been damaged. Ideally, it should slide in by hand with minimal force. The pressure plate should always be drawn down evenly in a criss-cross pattern so not to warp it.

And sometimes you just get a bad pressure plate or disc and it will not release. Aggravating!!!

DelMN probably has it. For Ease of manufacture driven disks are most often made with the central cushion springs sticking out on
one side of the hub, and not the other. If installed with the spring fat side to the flywheel they bind up and must be split again
to fix it. Jim

(quoted from post at 15:00:31 11/12/21) You may have the clutch disk in backwards and it is hanging up on the flywheel bolts.

Will look at that and see if thats itI was thinking about that same thing too

Will pull apart tomorrow and will update what I find out or might have more questions lolwill post again soonthank you for all the help.

should have taken a picture of the disc before removal. it has a bevel on the hub that faces out. its only a one way thing.

If the second picture is the way it was in the tractor (pressure plate shown under it) it is wrong. The first image is so flat
that We cant see the extension of the hub projection. The Image provided here shows the taller hub projection facing the
pressure plate, not the flywheel. The image is correct. Some clutch kits include driven disks with spring cushion in the hub,
your new disk does not. Google Super C clutches to see both types.
