560 Hydraulic pump

Just wondering if the hydraulic pump can be removed from a 560 without affecting anything or does it pump fluid onto the transmission gears. Any advice would be appreciated.

just drain some oil out. i drive the left side on blocks as not to have to drain all the oil. remove left cover and then it can be unbolted.
gears are splash lubed.

I don't know your system. But does it have a filter. I was asked to
look at a unit down here. Acting up poor operation. I pulled the mud
ball filtr. Had not been changed in years

Hello rtank, welcome to YT! I know if you do that and your
tractor has power steering it will no longer work. I do know
that the update kits that IH sent out to address the final
drive failure issues on those models included plumbing to
direct return hydraulic fluid to lubricate several critical
areas. I cannot tell you if the original design relied on
flowing lube in the hydraulic system to lube other bearings
or gears. I suspect you want to do this for tractor pulling,
otherwise I cannot think of a good reason to remove it.

(quoted from post at 13:01:59 11/07/21) I have seen them removed and part of the cavity filled in with some kind of spray foam to get some of the oil out too in pullers.
hank you for all of your responses,Ill give it a try.

Rustred has alluded to the fact that the original design was
just splash lube. So in that case the additional lube is not
needed just helpful. And mostly needed for hours and
hours of heavy draft work. You are taking a risk by doing
what I assume you are doing and that is putting more
power through the drivetrain and not necessarily using it for
a use it was designed for. So you have the additional safe
guard of the added lubricant or a lighter tractor you can
move the weight around on, the choice is yours.

what kind of pulling>>> antique class or balls to the wall class ? need info. i was reading it as just to remove the pump not deleting the
pump. always poor info we get. then try to give an answer to something not even related. i still dont see what it will hurt with out the
pump. did the w6 have a pump... no and this is a copy of its driveline.
