Guy at NAPA was telling me about an old, unused AC oil filter a friend of his found on a shelf. It had the letters AC stamped into it. He put it on ebay and got $300 for it. Apparently it was used on a certain year Camaro and collectors wanted an original oil filter. I've got complete running tractors that might not bring $300 at an auction. I guess when you have money to spend anything will sell. I personally haven't reached that point yet.

Your friend was lucky!, Lemme tell ya about my experience with one of those ''High-Dollar'' Camaro guys...

I had a garage sale a few years ago. In the sale we had a few dozen boxes of car magazines going all the way back to those pocket-sized ones like Hop-up and Honk! from the early 1950's. 10 cents apiece, the more you buy the cheaper they get, and I'd help you carry them to your car! This dude shows up and says he's restoring a '69 Z28 with the best of everything- NOS cross-ram intake on a standard bore 302 built by some famous engine guy, spinning date-coded NOS belts and
turning brand new red line tires on NOS rally wheels. Between that and the 100 layer professional paint job he had over 75k into it and the car was away getting a 20k upholstery job as we spoke. This high roller spared NO EXPENSE! Just my luck, he was looking for a certain (apparently hard-to-find) centerfold ad that was only put in certain magazines (Hot Rod, Car Craft, Motor Trend, etc.) in 1968-'69 introducing, or featuring the new Z28s. I had quite a few boxes from that era and so we dug in. A few minutes later he found one, but the car in the ad was red, and his was blue (or visa-versa) so he kept digging. He found another in his colour, and then I found another one that was the same.

''Wow, I cant believe you had these!'' he said. ''What do I owe you for them?'' I ran to the house to get my best calculator, then added up his bill. Let's see, 3 magazines, at 10 cents apiece, thats 30 cents. Figure in the 'car-guy' discount and that comes to 25 cents. Gimme a quarter.
After an uncomfortable pause - the guy with the self-proclaimed bottomless wallet who doesnt spare any cost when it comes to his car - took a long, hard look at the three magazines he was holding, and said--

''How much for just the ads?''

Aside from the price, it just doesnt appeal to me. Looks awkward and off balance. If I got it for 25 cents (warbaby im going to chuckle at your story all day long) I would take the shelf part and hangin the shop to store parts, Id try to get a few bucks for the tractor parts.

I like rustic look, but this isnt right.

If someone would buy it for that price or even half that would be crazy. My one uncle would have a saying for that buyer ..that guys problem is he has to many coins in his pocket!!
