ground speed pto

Hello Roderic welcome to YT! Could you explain what use
you would have for this? We had a 65 Massey on the farm
when I grew up. It came from my Uncles father in law.
Before that we had all Farmalls so the ground drive PTO
was an oddity to us. I suspect there may be some type of
planter drive you connect to it to meter seed. I have heard
they can be useful if you plug a grain auger. You connect
the tractor with the ground drive PTO to it. Then you jack
up a rear wheel and place the tractor in reverse with the
ground drive PTO engaged, it then turns the auger
backwards to help unplug it.

I use the ground speed often with a 3 pt. hitch fertilizer spreader, I have a new 2605 mf without gs pto and a 135 mf which has ground speed pto the x-mission look the same on both tractors If I could contact a MF engineer they probably could tell me.

Thanks for the info, looking at the online parts diagrams it
looks like you could have a PTO with a hydraulically
engaging clutch or the more old style two stage clutch. I
would guess if you DO NOT have the two stage clutch
style. If it was possible to install the ground drive PTO the
cost would be prohibitive to install it if you have the
hydraulic engaged PTO. The online diagrams says nothing
about the ground drive option, but I was skimming through
pretty quickly.

I'd bet it fits right in there, but no proof it will work. 2605 is an Indian built 135. Guessing lack of ground speed is cost cutting as most people don't have a clue what it's usable for.

I spread fertilizer with a 240 & Vicon, I use live power not ground drive. I do use the manual hopper shut off and just leave my throttle set at PTO RPM.
