i was wondering if there ever was a mounted ear corn picker made for a john deere model G ?
it has the wider frame? did deere or new idea or any one else make one?
or am i wrong and will a 226/227/237 picker fits on a model G
just curious, thanks for your help

227 and 237 corn pickers certainly could be mounted on JD G, 70, 720 and 730 tractors.

As far as I know, no.

As far as I know, the 226 was only the only one marketed during the production time of the G (Ok, the old 26 was, too) but they were only able to fit the A. The reason was the overall width, not so much the frame, but the belt pulley/clutch.

Obviously the 227 and 237 were put on a lot of 70's, 720's 730's. Indeed my grandfather had a 70 with 227 mounted on. But when the 70 replaced the G, the clutch pulley was much reduced in width in part to help clear a mounted picker.

I could certainly be mistaken, but I'd challenge anyone to come up with a picture of a mounted JD picker (at least a 226, 227 or 237) on a G.

The dangers of saying something definitively... I was not sure on the old push type ones. Thanks for correcting me.

I'll stick to my comments that the newer ones- 226 and newer- didn't fit. :)

Looking in the 1971 price book there is no mention of mounting parts or kits for a G to mount a 237 picker. The A is mentioned with serial number breaks.

Father in law ran a 227 on a G for 6 or 7 yrs. It was off set to right side to clear belt pulley. Took 2 men and boy to steer it and if there was any mud you buried it very quickly.
