Antifreeze color

Have some anti freeze (Orielly brand) that has went from green to soapy water looking. Checked freeze point and still at -30. What happened?I

Could have been dissolved corrosion. I had it happen too on OEM tomato worm green (Chartreuse) when I didn't change apparently 2 year antifreeze until 5 years...on a new tractor.

Did you add some to a system that had a low fluid level, or did you do a complete drain and fluid replace??
Some of this newer stuff has an off colored coolant. Dull red or pink in color, rather than the green. Most auto parts places carry both kinds. Not sure if its ok to mix the 2 kinds. Just wondering if you added green to a low system that has the other kind. Just didn't add enough green to the system to change the color in system to green.

Is it new still in the jug? Or in use?

If it's new, it should still be ok, never heard of an expiration date on new.

If it's in use, either there is some rust happening from the corrosion inhibitor being depleted, or the system wasn't flushed, or there was some other color still in the block that didn't drain, again a result of not flushing.

Color really doesn't mean anything anymore. Mixing colors is not a problem, it's mixing formulas that's not good. But Dexcool (red) is kinda a thing of it's own.

Also depends what it's in, old gas vehicles don't really care, it's the newer ones that are real specific about what they need.

GM uses the orange, or did in my 2011 Silverado. Say to not mix colors....reading the MSDS, different ingredients.
