unrestored model 50 tractor

what can i use to protect a unrestored john deere model 50? Don't want to paint it , just stop the surface rust and protect it from further rust. Thanks, Rudy

I use a mix of boiled linseed oil and mineral spirits. In a quart jar 1/4 of boiled linseed oil and the rest with mineral spirits, mix well. Power wash your tractor and let dry then just wipe the mix on with an old tee shirt. It will look wet after it dries but its not and doesn't attract dust

My body shop friend gives them a clear coat after a thorough cleaning to get all oil, grease and other contaminants off the existing surfaces. Looks good, stops additional paint deterioration. Lasts for years.

I have seen those clear coat jobs look just awful after a few years. It is well known that covering rust hardly slows rust let alone stop it.

Thanks for the suggestions, think i will use the boiled linseed diluted as i am going to have it sitting outside and can redo it as needed. Thanks again!!
