Today I attended the Elvy Burrus Estate sale at the north edge of Walker,MO...Its just 7 miles north of me....It was raining at sale time so I waited until the rain was over and I got there 1 hour late...A few items had already sold that I wanted to see..I saw lots of people that I knew and got I caught up on all the news..Several I used to work with at 3M in Nevada,MO were there....There was 7 acres there and it sold for $35,500 plus 10%...You just as well doze down all of the buildings...The 1440 sq foot house hadn't been lived in for awhile....The taxes were $416.33...There was lots of guns on the sale and they sold for $100-400 each.
On this past Thursday evening they had another sale for the Burrus Estate which I didnt attend.....It was at the SE edge of Nevada,MO which is 10,000 people...12.5 acres with a run down 1,080 square ft home sold for $55,000 plus 10%...The taxes on it were $125.63...A styled late 1940's-early 50's John Deere A tractor sold for $500-600?
When I was a teenager in the mid-late 1960's a young Elvy Burrus managed the Highway Oil Company at the east edge of Nevada on HWY 71 which is where we bought our gas...I remember in 1966-67 they had a gas pump that actually took cash...I put in a $1.00 bill in and got 5 gallons of gas..I drove a 1957 Ford to school with a 272 V-8 and a 3 speed..It was a 20 mile round trip each day and that $1.00 worth of gas lasted an entire week as I did no extra driving because I didnt have the money to..
The 1570 Case with a nice loader sold for $3,500...It hadn't been used in years but believe it or not it started and ran nice...The loader raised and the tractor moved in reverse..None of us could figure why he had a tractor this big.
The non running 3020 JD gas sold for $1,500.
The non running 6 speed John Deere B sold for $625...It had new rear tires and would probably run with minor work...I knew the buyer..
This non running 6 speed John Deere B sold for $500..
The John Deere 60 parts tractor sold for $225..There was a new 15.5x38 rice tire not that far from it...I wasnt there when these sold....Judging by the trees growed up in it, it had sat there for 30 years.
The 1970's Firebird with camper shell on it sold for $200.
Someone said the Ranger sold for $500-600?
I dont know what the C-20 Chevy sold for...It was pretty decent..
There was lots more than this...This coming Friday I have a consignment auction to attend...
