Wood Brothers threshing machine?

I will attach a couple of pictures to see if someone can help identify. Any idea on year made? Made the deal so I have to go move it home next week. Been in the barn for at least the last 30 years but obviously sat out before that. I think I see three missing pulleys but does anyone see anything else that is obviously missing? No belts so that will be a bit of a puzzle. Thanks, Mike

The nice thing about steel wheels is they dont go flat.

Im sorry.

In judging by the lack of trees in the pictures the raccoons probably havent been inside. How is the inside? The elevator appears to be wood so hopefully that is supple enough to run. What size is the machine?

I would guess it 1920 to 1940. It appears the WWII era changed the focus of the company. FJ Wood wrote a book The Wood Brothers In Action that might help ID the model. Also Iowa Historical has info on the firm.

We beat the car trailer topic up pretty good this week.

Years ago the farmer would load 8+ ton of silage or hay on a gear and pull it with a 1/2 ton truck sometimes and nobody got riled.

Here's a photo of a threshing machine our club purchased a few weeks back, we will use it for our summer show and pull's threshing demonstration. Up until now, we always borrowed one. This one is complete with all the belts and other accessories, etc included. Been shedded all it's life when not working and is apparently in excellent usable condition as it sits.

Crazy Horse,.. where is this club located? thats a nice little thresher. i have a belle city also thats been shedded its life. last used it in 2000.

Can you post a picture of your machine? We're located in central Alberta .... just east of Edmonton. We sort of 'operate' out of a historic farm site (the Bremner Farm) here in Strathcona County. Website link is below ....

I think we chatted before on the YT site RR. I'm pretty active with the club and all we do (including our pulls) but I don't pull myself, I just never got into it for whatever reason. I've got a MH 20 that I keep out there and use it for chores, etc. I had a little Farmall A as well but sold it this spring.

ok, where do u guys find binder twine for those bundles. appears to be getting hard to get.

We have a half-dozen club members that keep their eyes open and come across it now and then (by chance) in a variety of places, but that supply is never consistent. Nor are the prices. It's there one week some place and gone the next. We've been using the jute twine lately after years of fussing with the nylon variety in our JD 24T baler.

Oops .... binder twine as in a binder ...... same answer, here and there and wherever. We bought a binder from the same guy who sold us the threshing machine. Photo below is from this fall but it is one of the club member's binder.

Weve been able to get binder twine from Mimbach Fleet east side of St. Cloud Mn. Every year theyve been able to get it for the last 30 or so years. Mimbach is a one store family owned store that is well stocked and does small engine service. Figured Id throw the name out there if anyone is hunting.
