I posted back in May asking for advice on tractor/ hp for my needs, got lots of good advice and guidance..Thanks! Now, I've bought a JD 4020 with recent, out of tractor, overhaul by a reputable shop.

I've landed on a Titan 1808 brush-hogger/ rotary cutter (good price/double-rotor/heavy gauge steel, etc.), but want to get a good 3pt 'quick hitch' for the 4020 to connect to it and other future implements.

I see that John Deere made a 'cast' quick hitch at one point and that many now are steel and welded. My question is this: Is there a dependability/ value difference between the older 'cast' hitches and the newer welded ones? Thanks!

The cast ones are heavier and worth more . The problem
with a quick hitch is unless every piece of equipment you is
the same category as the hitch the hitch cant be used

I have both... get the welded one. I actually had the bolts break that hold a cast one together this spring planting corn.

And those reasons folks is why I hate 3 pt implements along with the wrestling match to get them on and off. Pull type just drop the pin in and go.

I've had both and the older JD quick hitches were quite wide where the lower links hook up and couldn't be used on several implements. These are much narrower. I think that without a hydraulic top link they are pretty much worthless unless you're parking your implements on a totally level surface as you'll be on and off adjusting the top link.
