Ford 3000 diesel wont start

It started running rough then died. I replaced filters and primed system. Its getting fuel to injectors. It will start with either but runs rough till gone and dies. It does have some blowback. Smoke does come out exhaust. Any ideas? :?:

Have you got fuel to each individual injector And a good flow
out of each loosened fuel line at the injector ?

Many yrs ago I owned a Ford 3000 diesel that I utilized for pulling a hay rake. My rake tractor driver would drive past fuel storage tank with less than 1/3 tank of fuel. Sometimes the 3000 would run out of fuel. That tractor was one of the most difficult to bleed air out & get started running. After I tired from attempting to get engine started I'd then attach a tow vehicle to it. That 3000 usually started in less than 10 ft of towing. YMMV

When is the last time you changed the fuel filters? You may have fuel enough at the injectors to pass the crack the nut test but
not enough to support sustained operation.

Did you open the drain cock on the filter assembly and check for water?

Last is the filter screen in the tank on the end of the fuel line.....remove the line, unscrew the drain cock and clean the filter....while
the drain cock is removed drain out any accumulated rust/water/sludge.....

My '65 is a good friend with it's nearly 6000 hours of running.
