I have a 1951 John Deere B with an after market electronic ignition and hot coil. The tractor runs great but the spark plugs last about 10 hours run time. I am currently using Autolite 3116s. Any suggestions?

post a pic of them plugs . is it the electrode your talking about? is so look into some cooler plugs.

Failed plugs tell a story.

Most common problem is fouling from running too rich, oil consumption, too cold heat range, or excess idling and cold starts. Sometimes the problem can be corrected by adjusting the plug selection heat range, or in case of oil fouling, adding non-foulers (an extension that spaces the plug away from the combustion area, to only be used as a temporary fix until the problem is addressed properly).

Look at this chart, match up the description to the problem it is having.
Plug Failures

I have a 1946 JD B that seems to go through plugs every other year. The shorter the run time, the worse it is. I do need a carb rebuilt and possible mag rebuilt.
