What do you guys use to maintain your driveway? I dont have a tractor with a 3pt small enough for a box blade. Looking for something to use behind a 4 wheeler. I was thinking a straight bar harrow or a chain drag? Any tips?

i use my honda quad quite a bit for clearing snow. has a blade in the front. you want to push snow not pull snow. in summer you could pull a drag to maintain it. you would need to make one out of iron or a piece of grader blade. chains or harrows dont do much.

For our driveway I use the four wheeler & pull an old field harrow section. Its about 5 ft wide with a little bit of weight attached on top of it. Takes several passes if rock has got compressed but does a good job for us.

A simple way to level a driveway with a quad is to pull a good hardwood pallet. I have extra weight on the one I use. Works great if you have a if a little bit of fine material to sprinkle on the driveway first.

I also rigged a piece of chain link fence with a piece of chain and weight it with a railroad tie. Cheap and easy.

This works best for me to level dirt and repair driveways.
Angle the blade or use landscape rake to put a bevel on the road.

Friend of mine used to chain a short log to the back of his 4 wheeler to keep the driveway up. I've seen it done with a riding mower also when it was fairly level.

I would say that the Harlow tooth hook up works nice. If you have gravel down or dirt. This is a series of little metal type spikes, It is 2feet wide by 4 feet long. Can be dragged to loosen small mounts of soil and them be moved in area to fill the spot on the drive way. this will work on gravel and dirt. the cheapest thing is to use is a pallet. chain it up and drag it. You can put weight on it to make the job work even nicer. these are the two stuff I have used in the past. what I think is funny is the pallet is the best and cheapest way to go.

I have an 8 foot yard rake with wheels. Does a nice job of grading without tearing the road up too bad. If I have some serious holes to fill, then I break out the box scraper.

It depends, if you get rain you will get pot holes and just filling them works only until the next rain. You also need to have a good crown to the surface so that the water runs right off in order to not get pot holes. If you get it worked up and crowned with a blade you shouldn't need to touch it again for a year.
