Removing trees from flower

Beds some times wrapping a chain around tree will skin the bark off. That's when I use flaring tool to grip the tree.

Some trees I can pull out by hand. Some have a very long tap root.
Redbuds have a soft bark, chain skins off the bark. I'm about done with my annual tree removal.

Chemicals aren't an option next to flowers.

You are the man, I tried to remove a sweet Gum from the blueberries the other day and used two flat pieces of metal with bolts to do the clamping. I probably have 2/3 of those clamps should have thought of your way. My flat pieces of metal just pulled up the slick trunk.

Crap.

Now I have to take a couple of those out of the boxes to go to the auction... Thanks...

Why my father had like a dozen is beyond me... Nice for flairing copper, but ya really only need 1 for that...

I never get rid of a tool even though I haven't flared copper in decades.
Need to get the right size or you can pinch the tree too hard and it will break off.

Annually I pressure wash rentals and then follow up pulling trees out of flower beds.
I now have a few trees at Boss's that will require the flaring tool.

The terramite is the puller.

Not interested in using chemicals, especially in second pic. Rocks protect well.
I have tooooooo many flower beds, can't keep up.

Yikes. A good set with a nice clamping bar like that is over 100$ now. I've got 1/2 a dozen sets now trying to find a decent one that doesn't slip working with steel/cupronickle/stainless lines. I'd trade ya a garbage chinese clamping bar for a nice one!
