Will galvanized roofing nails kill a tree?

I've used 16D Hot Dip Galv. common nails for years, and believe it or not, flattened bottle caps for a washer to keep the nails from pulling though posted signs with backer boards of plywood. Never an issue.
 
Thats a good idea for the bottle cap washers. Now when I drink a beer I can feel like Im doing something constructive. LOL
 
Use long ones, and don't drive them in but about an inch. The tree will grow around the nail, without pushing your signage off the nail, even with bottle caps. zuhnc
 
Galvanized nails will give the trees there daily dose of zinc, so its actually like your giving the trees a health supplement and wont do them any harm.

Unlike the poor humanoid worker clone who will be standing near the blades when they run this tree through a sawmill in the year 2525...

Warbaby, it is very unlikely for a nail to be missed by the scan prior to sawing, and by 2025 I would think pretty much impossible.
 
Ahh, that is true today, but you're forgetting that our Robot Overlords had banned all metal detecting scanners in 2173 as an invasion of A.I. privacy.

A few replaceable clones getting ''nailed'' by shrapnel is a small price to pay to uphold The 3,872nd Amendment!

Trees are exempt. So far no one is worried about trees getting cancer.
