White 2 - 85 won't go into gear.

We have a white 2 - 85. The tractor won't go into gear. Tractor starts and runs fine. What is everyone's thoughts? Reading other forms possibly the shift linkage is broke?

Some options of "Won't go into gear". Does one of these describe the issue better?

1. The lever doesn't move
2. The lever moves but nothing happens
3. You push the clutch but the gears just grind and won't go in

Do the gears grind when you try or does the linkage feel different than it used to? If the gears grind, can you get it into gear with the engine off?

have you done a little inspecting on this problem or just jumped out of tractor to computer. we need info. also its a gear shift not linkage.
plus there is direct and under and over drive on them. so give some details we are not at the tractor.
also these tractor take quite a pull to get them in gear not just a light pull on the gear shift. like a little yank.

You dont give us much to work with, so Ill start at the
beginning. Does the clutch pedal feel the same as it always
did? They shift easier in under drive, direct and over drive
keep pressure on the gears. Does the gear shift move freely?
Does it grind when trying to shift into gear? Need more
information.

I had a similar problem with a 1650 oliver, it was the throw out bearing.

White 2 - 85 won't go into gear.
