I just brought in the mail , no big check from Publisher clearinghouse (or anyone else). What I did get was a letter with info about filing a claim for 303 hydraulic oil purchased from TSC, Rural King, Orschein Supply and Atwood. We only have TSC around here. The 303 oil in question was Super S 303 Super S Super trac 303, Cam2 303 and Cam 2 promax 303. I know there has been a lot of posts about 303 hyd oil on here and this claim info was posted once before. ore info at www.303tractorhydraulicfluidsettlement.com. I havent read through all of it yet , guess I need to go out and count the yellow oil pails LOL.

I warned you guys in the past about buying things bottled by Smittys.
They use waste oil like line wash in their products.
I got told by others on this board that there is no way a oil bottler was using inferior products.
To much quality control in the industry and that oil had to meet XYZ standards.

Now from the class action suit.....

The defendants allegedly knew or should have known the 303 tractor hydraulic fluid products were made with used transformer oil, line wash, and other waste products containing additives and contaminants that were not appropriate for use in the products, and that because of this, the products did not meet current specifications, according to the class action lawsuit.

Oh well.

People were confusing the old JD oil with the junk oil labeled 303 and it stated on the bucket not to be used in tractors built after 1974 which people wrongly assumed it was OK for tractors built before 1974.If nothing else the price should have been the tip off.Another Penny wise Pound foolish story.

How much will they give us ?? Will they come out and count all the pails and send me 5$ For each one ??

There is a local farmer who must have purchased quite a few pails of this stuff over the years because about six months ago he got a check for about $150 because he had purchased this oil. Somehow, Orchelns had kept track of all that he had purchased and he got a check in the mail for using the oil.

I got the same letter. I used TSC's version for years and never saw any problems, but I was using it in old tractors. I tossed the letter.

I bought some from TSC too. I used it in a Long 3pt hitch backhoe that I bought real reasonable because it was real low on oil and
the previos owner didnt know where to put in oil, the hyd thrower on my JD 336 baler, and the p/s on my 4000 Ford. Bought a couple
3 pails to use in my AC hd3 dozer which requires 20w motor oil for hyd but never changed it yet due to my illness and not using the
dozer . I never used any in the tractor hyd or transmissions and also never saw any issues with it for what I did. It mostly went
into things with self contained systems that had some minor leaks. I have since got the leaks pretty well fixed on my 336 baler
thrower so it didnt need any oil this year. I guess you can get some money based on how much 303 oil you bought and then if you
feel you have damage from using the oil you can try and get some money for that. I bet the second category will take a lot of proof
to get any real money back.

Why does nobody seem to buy oil in barrels and save a bit of cash from the cheaper price. We buy all of our hydraulic and engine oil by the barrel. 80/90 and such by the 5 gallon unless we are going to use a lot in short order then might get a barrel.
