Fall Colours With The Merc

Busy all September and I was long overdue for a drive in the 52 Merc. With harvest done now yesterday was a good day to get out for a few pictures before the wind
takes all the leaves off the trees. Dry and dusty on the grid roads and the old Merc left a dusty cloud all the way. Short stretch of paved highway was a real
treat giving the old flathead a chance to stretch it's legs up to 65 mph.
Today, back to work trying to find a few more patches of grass to cut for hay.

Merc At Grandpas Farm

We called those back roads and field roads prairie trails where I grew up in Towner County North Dakota. I assume many on this video are field roads? Nice scenery for a Sunday drive. Thanks.

Amazingly smooth for un-paved roads/trails! Around here, our un-paved are washboard rough. Those trails of yours are way smoother than some of our paved county roads that won't tolerate 30mph! Nice scenery.

Brings back memories. My parents farmed with no pickup or atv. The chevy impala was often driven to the field. We hauled all our seed from town on a little two wheel trailer behind the car. I think we could get about 20 sacks on there.

(quoted from post at 16:35:26 09/27/21) You are one lucky man!! Would love to have a Merc like that. joe
Yes, lucky for sure. It will be 62 years ago next month that my dad brought the Merc home to take the place of the 39 Ford. No pickup truck in those days so the Merc did everything. I think it had a hitch on the bumper as I remember dad pulling a sprayer trailer home with it.

Thanks Rusty for the nice relaxing ride. A few minutes of peace and tranquility was what I needed.

I remember those old clamp on bumper hitches. However then the bumpers were strong enough to pull a trailer. joe
