Spring of 2020 that is....

Progressive discounted premiums by 20% for a few months.
USAA discounted 25%, and other companies did similar.
Because of the pan demic "hardships".

Now Progressive is getting that 20% back with a 40% increase for me!

Time to go shopping.....

Insurance companies are also doing the same 'introductory offer' as cable TV.

Lure you in with a good rate and slowly jack it up, hoping you won't notice!

Yea, I been with Progressive for 20 years or more.
Got their highest preferred customer level/rating.
I guess that means they think l will stay with them no matter what.
So they think.

Only pay for what you need.
Stop knocking on wood.
Bundle, Bundle, Bundle.
You are in good hands.
Ever wonder, do the good Insurance companies need to advertise??

How about The bucks' got your back. (Just watch out for hoofs on your shoulders) BTDT. The old bait and switch routine, the second year, went wayyy up.

The buck stops here ad drives SWMBO nuts. She says its a Bull Elk! Its not a buck deer. As usual she is correct.

I've had Progressive on our vehicles for two years now, and on my motorcycle just about forever. But I just filed my first claim with them last month after the neighbor's tree fell over and damaged my wife's Buick. It has been interesting.

I filed the claim online, which was fairly straightforward. I got a call from the assigned claims representative a couple of days later, who gave me a claim number. Since we were traveling at the time, she said she would send out an adjuster to the house to check out the car, which was parked back home. Then she called me back to say, no, the adjuster wouldn't come to the house since the car was driveable and that I'd need to take it to a shop for an estimate when I got back. She would follow up with me when I was back home.

A couple of weeks later I try to call her back, but her phone number is no longer working. Called the main Progressive number and eventually got someone who gave me a different claim rep and phone number. Over the next week I try to contact the new rep, who doesn't answer his phone. I also tried to contact him over the Progressive web site, no response. Eventually his voice mailbox fills up. I call the 800 number again, and am told my claim has been transferred to the 'weather team'. My call is transferred to the weather team; I give up after 20 minutes on hold. The next day I call the 800 number again. The rep I talk to gives me the direct number for the weather team, and takes the information for our local body shop. He tells me to leave the car with the shop and they'll send an adjuster out to look at it.

I call the collision shop and tell them I'm dropping off the car and that Progressive will be sending out an adjuster. The shop's receptionist patiently explains to me that in Michigan, Progressive NEVER sends out adjusters! She said I probably talked to someone in another state that doesn't know how they operate here. Just bring it in and they'll do the estimate and submit it to Progressive. When I brought it in, the estimator told me that Progressive is absolutely the worst company to deal with for claims, both from their perspective and the customers.

Our insurance is paid up for another year. I figure it will be time to switch companies then; I've found three years is about as long as I can stick with an auto insurance company; it will be time to switch next year.

SV,
No one gets out alive is true.
Life insurance is not for you, it for those you leave behind to bury you.
Are you aware there's no death taxes on life Insurance?
Is some people had their way, after you are dead they take your farm instead of giving it to your kids.

I have Auto Owners for everything I own except the Model T.
3 houses, 20+ acres, 2 shops, wife's Grand Cherokee,
and my Dodge diesel.
$214 a month.
Includes road service on Cherokee and Dodge.

They are all doing it. I just switched TO Progressive for that very reason' I had Geico, it was the cheapest for me
and they always treated me right, but for what my premiums were for a six months, I just got for a year with
Progressive.

If you get hit by a Progressive driver you are pretty much screwed...We have been fighting with them for two years over diminished value on a nearly new vehicle that was
hit from behind and should have been totaled...After being fixed our 7 month old SUV was appraised by 5 car dealers as having $10,000 less in value and lying Rachel at
Progressive has only offered $3,000 after saying she could do better..Progressive had over 5 billion in profit for 2020..

Talk about life insurance. My wife passed away last Jan. She had some life ins. and one was with Hawkie out of Lincoln, Neb. I takes all the papers to my lawyer, he says I don't do Hawkie. I thought what the hell. Finally I fiqured out, he is a Cyclone fan. He did NOTHING for me what so ever. Time to look for a different Lawyer.

I have had the same auto insurance company through 3 addresses and over 40 years. My rates are what I would call
GOOD.

Example: I have my homeowners and auto insurance bundled with the same company. Even though they are separate
policies. My car insurance is about $600 per year for two cars. My gf went to get new insurance on her car, and
they wanted over $125 PER MONTH, all year. We added her name to my policy and suddenly it only averages out to
about $27 per month. Hmmm. Result: we put both names on everything.

Homeowner's insurance is a bit more, but not unreasonable for the value of the house.

The big catch is that I will never get a rate that low with any other company AFTER THE INTRODUCTORY PERIOD!
Then, I will rue the day that I ever considered switching! Bet on it!

One more thing. Who do you think is paying for the continual and high powered advertising with birds, lizards,
and Flo? The Madison Avenue boys are getting rich on it while the ratepayers are getting the bill for it.

Yes capital gains or estate tax. But thats the way it should be why should a family thats worked their whole to build something living on nothing while doing it be allowed to keep it ? Thats not fair

What I mean is how do they make a screwing on life insurance because they have to pay it or have they figured out how not to pay that too?

SV,
NO one forces anyone to buy life insurance.
We are forced to prove we have auto insurance.
I think the cops can impound your car in Indians if you are in an accident and don't have insurance. Or is you are pulled over for anything and don't have proof of insurance.
We have to have auto insurance to buy plates, even thought that is really checked. You can say you have insurance with a company.

I like investing in life insurance companies in the form of annuities. It's a win win for me. May not be for everyone. I get a 5% return for the rest of my life and when I die my kids get a life insurance money, tax free.

It's your money. Do what you want. My annuities survived the 2008 crash, never lost a penny of income. So you could say, I'm making money on insurance companies and not doing a lick of work. I won't say how much, but it's more than my SS income.

I have a neighbor in good hands. Was away on a business trip when Texas had their freeze. Pipes in the house are in the attic...neat idea construction company.......burst and put 3 inches in the whole house......he is still living out of his garage...........I went from State Farm (over 25 years with them essentially 0 claims) to Farmers a couple of years ago. First year great rates on my vehicles. Second year ok rates. this fall my 6 months premium went up $150 for a safe driver, no tickets, no wrecks, an '09 Honda Element and '11 Silverado, drive less than 50 miles per week.

Maybe there is a reason why they can claim to be cheaper than other insurers. Sounds like they know how to control costs...don't pay?

SV I don't totally follow you there. Most farmers don't have much and work the whole while having nothing then when they die have to give it to the government. Family should get it they worked for it. Capital gains and estate tax is about as fair as the odds in a casino.
