Ignition Switch

I'm going to get one of the switches on this site for my Jubilee. It shows 2 wires on it. The one that broke isn't like that it had terminals. It's been changed to 12 volt. How do I wire that switch up or which switch would you recommend if not that one? Thanks.

You need to fill in the blanks for us to be able to help you. How many wires does the switch you have have on it?? Do you use it tot start it up?? Etc.

I don't use it to start it I have a push button. I'm not sure how many wires it's at my land and I'm at work. I think it has 4 but not positive.

If it only has 2 terminal with wire on it then a 2 wire switch would work but if it has more thn 2 terminals with wires on them you have to figure out what each wire does

If it is a 4 terminal universal ignition switch (ACC., OFF, IGN., and START) a two terminal switch will work, as you say you do not use the start position of the current ignition switch. Battery power goes to one terminal and everything else that may be on the IGN and ACC terminals can go on the other terminal of the two terminal switch. If you have an alternator the wiring, to it needs to be correct to avoid any back feed with this wiring arrangement, if the ACC terminal was used to excite the alternator.

If you are using the starter button to start the tractor, which you should be for safety, and it is correctly wired, a two wire switch, one wire to either side of the small
junction block. In another words, the switch connects the battery to the coil,

For years most every autoparts store and even Walmart sold a "universal ignition switch" that typically used a common, generic key.

If you're lucky and a P.O. used a switch like that all you'd need would be a key.

I thought I had one on my "daily carry" keychain and was going to post a photo, but I'll have to "circle back on that"!

Does your existing switch look like the photo?

If so, (as I wrote) it should be no problem to find one locally for 15 bucks or so, and if you're REALLY lucky the keys will fit your old switch.

Yes from the factory but many no longer have that and have had key type start switches installed. 9N,2N,8N,Jubilee, NAA, 600/700/800/900/501/601/701/801/ etc. But that was when new but not that way now. One example is my 841S the start button on the top of the transmission no longer is used to start it but instead it has a button under the left side to start it with
