Daughter was cutting up a lot of peppers out of the garden the oils from the peppers got on her hands her hands are burning. googling home remedies to ease the pain anybody have suggestions I dont know what kind of pepper it was.

Pretty much a grin and bear it thing. BTDT and now wear latex gloves when working with peppers that are hot. I try all sorts of things to stop the burn and in the end nothing helped. Soap and water did nothing carb cleaner spray did nothing. Sunburn lotion did nothing. Dish soap did nothing and grease type hand cleaner did nothing

Can't confirm this but the old timers of yesteryear said squeezing a ripe tomato and rubbing your hands in the juice will help.

The unfortunate truth is that the oil (capsaicin) that makes the peppers hot has penetrated and been absorbed by your daughter's skin. Once absorbed, it will burn until fully metabolized. Long exposure to this oil allows the skin to absorb it into the deeper layers.

It usually takes about a week for the burning to finally go away. Sorry I couldn't give you better news.

Probably too late now, but putting rubber gloves on now might help keep the burn from spreading to her eyes or other places!

Happened to wife several years ago. Think we finally used milk to soak hands in. I know it is only thing that works when you eat something spicy hot.

This. Milk will neutralize it. Most other washes and soaps only make it worse.

Milk will help. Another home remedy is take a potato and shred it. Put it in a sock and put her hand in it. The potas will help draw it out. There's a cream for creosote burns but I have no idea where to get it. Good Luck.

I don't know if it will help in this instance or not but diesel fuel or kerosene will draw the poison out of a bee sting. Have used it many times.

According to Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull who raises peppers. You make a mix of Rolaids or Tums into a paste and apply.

I got up early one morning a couple years ago to leave on a long driving trip. Took a shower, dried off, and went to apply some jock itch cream. Grabbed some powerful pepper cream meant for arthritis by mistake and wow! a quick google search turned up vinegar as the solution and it worked right now, to my relief.
