Harvest time

The post below about what makes you
enjoy farming got me to thinking. I
guess for me it's most of everything
that comes with the occupation. To
me the real reward so to speak is
harvest time. At that point is
seeing how many good and bad
decisions were made throughout the
year. Here are a few pics from this
week.

The first pic is corn. The moisture finally got down into the 15 to 17 percent range. The second pic is of the next to last field of tobacco that's left to tip. Have been barning baccer in daylight
and picking corn simultaneously when everyone is here, but definitely have been picking nights after done putting in for the day. Makes for some long and cross eyed times.

To be honest I'm beginning to hate harvest time. Its either fighting bad weather or breakdowns all the time it seems. I spent all day getting things ready to go. Fixing numerous little things. Finally got rolling a little after 6:00 pm. Weather was great but the canola turned out to be borderline too high moisture. After a struggle with electrical and lighting problems I finally got one combine hopper done. By then it was dark and the moisture came way up so time to shut down. I did take one picture but due to being on a starvation diet of megabytes from Sasktel I have to refrain from posting pics or video for a while. :(
