Well my front drivers tire looked a little soft and the tire pressure monitor said 32 pounds on my pickup when I left work. Kept an eye on it till I got home. This is what I found. Its getting a plug. I know some may say plugs arent safe and an inside patch is better. This is what I have to do to get to work tomorrow morning.

I use plugs all the time.

In one situation I was in, I sold Blackjack plugs to tire shops by the gross.

A selling point for plugs is on steel belted tires the plug seals the repair from the outside and prevents water and corrosives from getting at the steel.

The inside patches used today are usually a combination plug-patch , a patch with a sort of pug attached that gets pushed through from the inside. There are inside patches for radial tires but I do not believe they are a recommended repair for tubeless radial tires so most shops either do the plug-patch or the regular plug. The plug patch is a better repair but I have plugged many tires with the regular plug and if done right they can be a good long lasting repair too.

I use plugs also unless the tire is real new. The problem, as I was taught, with plugs is sealing water from the belts which can cause them to deteriorate,(and maybe a blowout). That said I never had any problem either. Mark.

I like those nnalert plugs,I even plugged a semi drive tire. nnalert makes tools heavy enough to plug a 14 ply tire.

Rubber glue does seam to help them. I have seen a many plug leak its a small leak but it does leak if not glued in. The tire in the pix deserves what is consider a permanent repair from the inside. A plug is not considered a permanent repair : (

I use Tech plugs and plug patches as well as the regular patch. I like the plug patch for radials as it seals the in and outside both. I have used plugs for semi and other tires as well. I do cut the excess off on the outside so it doesn't pull out on the road.
