My first time

Not what you think. I have owned a lot cars with hydraulic brakes, since my 34 Chevy with mechanical brakes. Starting with my 46 ford coupe. This is the first time I have encountered a plugged wheel cylinder rubber line. This is what I found on my 86 f350. Another lesson learned. Stan

I had been told that could happen many years back but all my many years it never happened to any of my cars or trucks.

Isnt it great when youre finally successful? I had a square body Chevy that had awesome brakes , but when the light turned green, you couldnt leave. Had to crack the bleeder to get it to move. Sometimes it would just drag. I felt like I put 10 calipers on to that thing till someone said rubber hose, an idea I initially scoffed at. Well done!

Yep, happened on my old 75 GMC 1 ton years ago.
Push the brake pedal to stop and one front brake would not release.

It can happen to all makes and models (because they subcontract out the hose manufacturing), but I think this happens to Fords more than anybody else. It happened to my 97 F250 about 10 years ago.

We used to have a problem with our Ford cabover line trucks, a flex line connected the master cylinder to a line on the frame, at the cab joint. You would apply the brakes, and they wouldn't release. The inside of the line was deteriorating, and acting as a check valve.

xperienced on 1992 Chev 2500, right front.

I have seen several were a steel hose bracket will rust between the hose and the bracket, pinching the hose closed. Pry it back open and go another decade!

I wonder if it has to do with rust.

I've heard of straps rusting where the hose passes through to the point of swelling and constricting the hose. But I don't live in the rust belt, so no personal experience with that happening.

Seen oil put in the master cylinder and ruining all the rubber components. Terrible situation to deal with!

Twice I have had one so badly plugged that it exploded when I heated the fitting to remove it from the steel line. Now I cut them off right next to the end if I have to use heat.

The repair shop that I use tell me that it is not uncommon especially on the F series Fords.

I never ran into that cuzz I am the king of replacing them : )

Kidding about never seeing that BUT I am the king of replacing them and anything else I touch while there... Add parking brake cables hold down are any hardware to the menu...
