JD 2030 PTO lever

Hello, I have a JD 2030 with the central, by the shifters PTO lever. Recently did some work in that area and now the lever does not pop into place. I have to hold it to engage the PTO. Also a second question is how to troubleshoot a fuel gage that is not working. Thanks, Joe R

If your fuel gauge is like mine was, there is a huge hole in the float. You might get a good flashlight and look into the fuel tank to hook a wire around the arm and lift it to see if that makes a difference. If that is the problem, it's pretty easy to replace. JD still had the parts for me 5 years ago.

First make sure the gauge has power on one terminal (closest one to the steering wheel I believe).

2. With the power on ground the other wire terminal. The gauge should go to empty.

3. if the gauge went to empty go to the tank and ground the wire connected to the sender. If it doesn't go to empty grounding it there you have an open in the wire between the gauge and sender. If the gauge went to empty try grounding the sending unit itself, it might have lost its ground through the tank.

If it is still not working it is likely the sender's resistor or the float. If you have to get parts be sure you get the right ones. There is a difference in some of the Dubuque and Mannheim 2030 instruments, like fuel gauges, and they won't interchange.

As for the Independent PTO lever, what work did you do in the area? It sounds like something is out of place. It has been a number of years since I had mine apart, but it won't hold if not assembled correctly.

Fuel gauge in my tractor quit working due to a lousy ground at the tank sender .
As previously stated . Somebody has lost the decent balls and/or springs .
