Anyone selling timber now or lately? Been getting bids the highest came in just last week seem pretty good but wonder what others are getting. This for already marked and scaled on the
stump they pay before anything is cut and the sawmill pays for all the logging.

No idea what the stumpage rates are now but if you're selling you might want to hurry. Wholesale prices are down below $500 a thousand last I read. That's going to really hurt the sawmills who are paying the higher stumpage rates.

Just out of curiosity did you get a bid from Parton Lumber? They used to go up to Virginia but I don't know how far.

On my last timber sale I started on my own and got 2 or 3 bids........Then I hired a professional timber manager who spent days counting and marking the trees to be cut and even the direction of fall to save smaller trees and advertised the number of trees, board feet and species and put it out for bids AND I ENDED UP GETTING LIKE 5 TIMES THE INITIAL PRICE I GOT ON MY OWN.....All his hard work and time and marking and counting was worth every penny of his 10% yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy That was my second timber sale on that farm the prior was like 25 years ago, then I sold the farm a few years later..........

I don't know which company bid what,a forester is handling it, the best bid and I'm going to take it is a little over $400 per 1000 bd ft.They pay me 1/2 now and I want them to pay me other half after Jan 1st.This a mixture of Red,Black, White Oaks and Poplar with maybe 5% other trees,no Pine no one wants Pine which is fine since I don't have enough to bother with anyway.Won't be too bad to log for the most part a little steep up on the mountain and some scattered in a 60 acre pasture field in places.Of course that is on them to figure out.

I have a forester handling the sale, like you say he'll get more than I ever could doing it myself. He has had every tree to be cut measured,bd ft figured and marked to be cut so the bidders can see what is what.Plus he is well known works with sawmills all the time.Right much of a job.

Logging trucks are daily dropping off hardwood at sawmill on 63 across from Federal prison where some elected officials are spending their second term in office.

Dont over look the clean up, all trails back filled , access roads graded ,bridges removed , specifically agree to right away width and length.
I make them sign into master loggers program.
I dont allow them to use farm colverted bridges ,they make there ours bridges and remove after the job is complete .
I dont allow clear cutting ,
Compensation for damage to un marked trees .

Ive got a couple tree guys wanting to buy my works. Its never been logged out . It has around 100 trees they want. The second estimate was 4500 more than the first guy offered. I dont know anything about this stuff. I called 4 or 5 guys that buy logs, and only two guys showed up.
