Brake rotor, not mine.

Must be made of good metal to last that long without braking in pieces or made out of cheap metal to ware that fast.

The noise started just after you adjusted my headlights before that the brakes were working just fine.

How many miles do you think I have left...

Can you fix just that one side...

How much if I buy the parts...

The dealer will do the job for $99.95 I am sure you can do it cheaper than the dealer.

Some folks might think you're kidding
but I have heard all that and more. Had
a suv pull in to the shop at lunch time
one Saturday with a similar rotor. Brake
pad wasn't even there and the dual
pistons had fell out of the caliper.
Can't you put those little thingy's back
in and put a pad on so I can get going?

That is the new super vented light weight racing rotor. Im surprised you havent seen them yet ! Ha ha !

can't blame people. Every time you drive into a repair shop you can count on a minimum of $700 and usually over a thousand if there is anything at all wrong with a vehicle. Had to replace a steering rack on my truck. Estimate was $650, actual cost $1,160. Had a bearing and seal go bad a year ago in the rear end. Over $1,375. And parts prices are currently skyrocketing. You know you are gonna get it up the wazoo anyway, so you are going to make sure it is well and truely shot before you replace it. I agree that's a little extreme, but I understand.

You just mentioned good reasons why I refuse to work for other people.

How many people refuse to pay?

i feel very fortunate to have had a local garage for my entire adult life ( first the dad, then the sons, down to one son, and he he is getting to retirement age , so who knows, ) but this place under this family has always been fair and honest have never had reason to question a bill, seems that every time some thing costs more than i figured, there was a time it was less than i figured , not to mention the times there was no charge as it was only a 5 minute fix should add that i have never had a brand new vehicle, so have very little dealership experience, mostly only independent repair shops

In 1974 a tow-in to Doan and Decker Ford was given to me to fix. It had missed a tree getting into a lawn near Seelyville because the RF wheel locked up when the Piston cam out of the caliper and jammed diagonally into the (now open to the side) cooling slots. Not as bad as that one, but the customer insisted there was no noise!! Jim

Years ago my sister in law took her car for a safety inspection. It failed because of the front brakes were worn. I sent her to a garage that I dealt with for years so she could get it fixed.
She goes to pick it up and raises he#@ because they changed both sides and the inspection only showed the LF bad. She said she would only pay for the one side so the mechanic said ok and he put the old pads back on. You couldn't get it through to her you needed to change both sides.

My brake pads last a long time. I start coasting up to red lites and everyone flys around me and jams on the brakes! I change my own brake pads and have never changed a rotor. I would have to have a million miles to wear a rotor that thin! Brake pads probably last me at least 75,000 miles if not more. I always buy the cheapest ones. I heard that the expensive ones are harder and wear the rotor faster.I think I paid $12 for my last set of 2. When I drove a big truck, the brakes lasted longer than the other drivers, and I also got better fuel mileage!

Refuse no I have had a few abandoned : ( It use to be easy and cheap to file a mechanics lean but no more. The paper work is easy you have to pay court cost now : (

If I get stuck other than a bad check are a credit card dispute I would say its my fought for getting that deep into it without a deposit up front.

I have good customers for 10 to 30 years I recommend another shop to do a major repair for them. All goes bad real bad the customer is furious I know the shop I know they do great work why have I never had a problem with them but the other shop does... What gets them in trouble to begin with is they under estimate the job when it goes over they are crooks... Think about it if you trust someone you give them the benefit of the doubt after all you trust them. If you have your doubts it don't mater how good they are they are crooks...

they were lucky. Mine always wear out the opposite side. The inside wears and the caliper freezes to the pins/bolts. This is the reason I hate caliper brakes on things. And no they don't last longer nor stop better. I first changed brakes on the semi at 750,000 miles on the tractor. trailer brakes don't last as long. I now have over a Million 150,000 with the second set of shoes and drums. I will probably have to replace them from rusting loose from the shoe before they wear out. I never had to replace shoes on cars before they came out with those stupid disc brakes.
