Michigan tractor shovel

75G

My apologies Michigan 75 GM tractor shovel my be a stretch , I am in desperate need of information or leads. I bought a old machine have cleaned the tags but cant find any place to decode the serial and model numbers .Any help appreciated

(quoted from post at 09:45:37 08/20/21) You sure its not a 75A with a GM engine? What are you trying to find out?
The serial model number tag say 75 G M the m is hard to see so I could have it wrong, serial is 10001 49 last two 49 is a guess they are hard to read , trying to properly ID machine and year. I know its a Detroit 4-53

If you were to provide the engine numbers, I can
give you the year of the engine. Numbers located
on machined pad on block, below cylinder head,
next to flywheel housing. S/N starts with 4D-xxxxx

"Michigan" branded heavy equipment was made by Clark Equipment in Benton Harbor, Mi.
About ten miles down the road from where I grew up.

A Clark 75 was an articulated wheel loader.

Note the Michigan logo above the smv sign.

They made 75, 75A,B & C etc. as well and the serial number should be in this format: 447D247CB

(quoted from post at 15:03:42 08/20/21) Send a pic with the side cover off, will help identify the engine.

The engine has 54037101 on valve cover label and I heard it run no doubt its a Detroit, having trouble loading pics? Sorry its a 75 no articulated rear steer with tanks behind tires other than that similar to pic someone else posted

I have a Michigan 55A what is the nature of your question? There are a few people out there with equipment and some good parts sources.

I believe you can tell it is a 4 cylinder Detroit as you posted, not a 3 cylinder.

This style sheet metal? That may have been called a 75 Series 2 or 75A Series 2.

As I understand it; Michigan became Clark-Michigan and then became part of the VME (Volvo) group. A dealer for Volvo equipment may be able to access the info you are looking for regarding your model/serial number.

Minnpar.com may be another resource that info and parts. Also they have a number of Michigan parts catalog on line at their web site.

1959 was the last year for , numbers only, serial
numbers. From 59-up the serial number had some
combination of letters and numbers. Further, none
of the non-letter numbers are as long as the one
you posted. So far what you have provided puts us
between 54 and 59, which would be correct for a
rigid frame machine.

You do have a 4-53. But it should read, 5043 not
5403. Also , there is no ...1... in the sixth digit place,
denoting design variation. This place should be a
zero, a two or a three. Last 2 digits tell whether the
starter is on the same side as the blower. But we
still need the serial number to determine the year.

Well the operation manual just made a liar out of
me, there IS a 1 in the sixth digit position, denotes 2
valve head. Sorry about that

Thank you all !! The first pic is a match except the rear has two ears in a horizontal position instead of lined up for a vertical pin and some sort of mount under the rear .also hydraulics for something on top rear fender/tank . I knew it was old but wow sneaking suspicion when the 10001?49 looked like an early number . Im still working on getting eng number. Most pressing issue at the moment is steering ton of play in wheel that I think can be adjusted out of box with nut/screw as in trucks but power assist isnt working either need to be moving to wrestle any direction not sure where the assist system comes in

The patent tag near the model serial tag shows patents up thru 66 so it must be that or newer?

The first picture posted (by Double07) is an articulated machine, I believe. Both pictures I posted are non-articulated and have rear steer. I believe you posted it is not articulated. So which first picture are you referring to?

Some loaders had backhoes or other attachments mounted on them, so by description yours had something for an attachment. Exactly what is had to say.

You have posts enough now on record that the site will allow you to post pictures. It will help greatly if you post some pictures of your machine.

Assumed it was backhoe but cant find anything online probably cause of age
