Hearing Aid

I've tried several brands from local suppliers. Never tried online. I haven't been able to find any that could help the tinnitus in my right ear. I have tried cheap ones and expensive ones-all returned for refund. I have the Costco brand now, but I plan to return them.

I have expensive Signia hearing aids in both ears. Ignorance and 12gauge/30-06/Farmalls W/O mufflers. I was told by the Audiologist that they were unlikely to eliminate tinnitus. They did reduce the distraction it causes, but isn't a cure because the ringing is in the head, not the ear. It was explained to me that the brain seeks human range frequencies from the Auditory nerve. If frequencies are missing from the input, the brain tries to compensate by amplifying the missing content. The result is tinnitus. I can understand speech far better, and hear activities in every day life far better with than without. Jim
 
Let me know if you find something to put a stop to the ringing in ear caused by floating crystals in inner ear.

I have a handmedown Iphone that lets me make several adjustments on my hearing aids, such as noisey surroundings etc. It's not perfect but another tool for better hearing.
 
Butch, may I ask why you are returning the hearing aid to Costco? What brand did you get? Thanks
 
I have Miracle Ear, they are expensive. I do need specific hearing aids because my hearing loss is not the same in both ears. The hearing in my right ear is just about gone. If I sleep on my left side at night, I dont hear anything.
 
I have Miracle ear hearing aids for both ears. Needed them because of loss of high frequency in both ears probably too much time on no cab combines and tractors. I'm happy with them because I can program them for different environments with my phone. Sure makes a difference while having a general conversation and listening to the grand kids. My .02
 
My last audiogram indicated that my hearing was 60dB below normal. Best hearing aids available only gain you 30 dB. Not worth the hassle to me after many many bucks and pairs. I find that the best hearing aid is your hand and cocking your head. People, saying something that you might want to hear, are very accommodating to sign language.
 
I still like my Phonak hearing aids I get from the VA. They work well for my everyday needs. I-Phone and Bluetooth features really make the difference.
 
The brand is Kirkland Signature. They seem to be as well made as any I have tried, and the price is good at $1,400. But I just don't seem to gain much benefit from having them in my ears.
