(quoted from post at 15:55:15 08/14/21) Help! My 2440 tractor warning lights do not flash. all wiring seems to be correct. The flasher came form an auto parts store. Will flash sometimes but not for long. Do I need to buy an original one from Deere dealer?

What number flasher did you get from the auto parts store? Are the lights incandescent or have they been changed to LED?

Either one should flash six lights. I would suspect a short somewhere, perhaps even right in a socket. Are the lights shining brightly or dim?

They are nice and bright.

Some history might help. The questions may not make sense to you, but remember we can see it, so have to ask things to replace the missing visual.
In the past, were they working and quit, so you replaced the flasher? Or did you recently get the tractor and they weren't working, so you are trying to fix them? You say the wiring seems to be correct. Are you comparing it to the wiring diagram or just how it appears to you. Do you have the right John Deere Technical (service) Manual (for the wiring diagrams) and the Operator's manual for it? There are two different serial number ranges for the manuals. I know some models (and expect maybe the 2440 as well) could be re-wired so the warning lights were steady burning not flashing due to local regulations, another reason for the questions of, did they work in the past and do you have the manuals (so you can check for that modification).

Working on this for a friend. replacing radiator and he asked if I could fix flashers. Already had automotive type flasher installed. They only flash for several minutes if at all. Compared wiring to service manual diagram specific for this tractor. All colors match and correspond with proper location. This is driving me crazy. The only difference is the automotive type flasher. I ordered OEM from J.D. but my expectations are not high. Do not believe it was modified.

You likely checked this. The automobile flashers plug in to the socket ok, but is the flasher getting power on its X terminal? I have been trying to find a picture of the JD flasher with the terminals identified on the chanced they are reversed, doesn't seem they would do that. Does this tractor have signal lights or just flashing warning lights? If it has signals there could be a problem in the signal switch.
