Very nice clean field. All hay will bring a price this year. Montana prairie fires and western drought will assure that. Jim

Nice, we had over 9 inches of rain here in July, been hot and humid, we just had inch and a half of rain yesterday in about a 1/2 hour, I havent even got to try out my repaired hay bine yet, I wish I could get away with using a mower like that, but the conditioning rolls help the hay dry faster we need every bit of drying help we can get here, Ive been doing hay over 30 years think Ive had about enough of it,
Those are nice looking bales, I had an ih 37 Before my Deere Baler, had a hard time getting that 37 to make good bales

Straw is 100$ a ton in the Windrow . There is a lot of old growth in this . I dont graze my place to the dust so when things like this year happens Ive got a cushion this is the 3rd time in 40 years had to put up hay out here I hope its another 40 before I do it again. The low ground subs a little and that grass has really grown back since I cut it

Any time you want to send the rain here we can use it had a an inch two weeks ago so that helped . This baler Is almost new its been parked under shed most if its life was bought brand new by a distant relative and they never used it

Id be glad to send you some rain, what I cant understand is our weather comes from the west Usually, yet you have no rain just odd thats good on the old Baler, cant beat that

Always enjoy seeing what you do with pictures. Did you ever get the cummins running or did i miss it?

SV, a retired farmer a few miles from here gave my son a baler like that.
He used it several years.
We put new knives in the chamber and it did great.
I baled 1500 bales of wheat straw one day and only had 11 miss ties.
Pulled it with an early 70's JD 4020.

At those prices a person could just about haul it from here and make money. I just delivered 120 square bales of bahai for a friend. It was $5 per bale.

I'm thinking the may have drove 200 miles to get home, but you never know.

I don't think anyone around me sells hay by the ton, usually by the bale around $5 for a about 40#. 50 bales a ton $250. Perhaps they are less than 40#

$60 for a round bale. Not sure how much they weigh. Heavy. Neighbor had me make him a rear 1200# ballast. He said the bale was around 1200#
If they are 1000# that is $120 a ton for clover or alfalfa hay.

These are prices from a guy 3 miles away. He even delivered hay to neighbor.

Grass hay is desired by people with horses and hard to find in my hood.

Mine never got started due to weather. The guy who bales for me got here last weekend and baled my adjacent neighbor's small piece on Monday. Rain that evening and hard rain every day since. I've been getting $6 a bale with no complaints and a lot of new local customers cleaned me out May through June. I'd hate to have to call them all and say no hay this year.

SV I had an IH 430 was a good baler. Traded it on a new Case IH that was similar to the 440. Photos are from 1990 the day it was delivered.

The only time this one misses is if I shove it to hard then it will break one thats when I have to slow down a gear

Thats a nice outfit Gregg what was the model of that baler ? I thought case was in bed with Hesston on hay equipment then ?

Thats to bad mike . My local hay didnt do anything this year do to weather being so dry nothing grew .

No Tom still trying to scrounge up a head for it . Probably going to have to go new on it I guess .
