Anyone here ever had any dealing's with Carolina Carports? What are your opinions of this company for service and product quality? Purchased a carport from them almost 10 months ago. Payed my deposit and was promised installation around 12 weeks from date of invoice. Have tried contacting them by phone and email numerous times with nary a response. The local dealer who took the deposit and issued the invoice has been no help at all. Says they have been a dealer for Carolina Carports for over 20 years. Refuses to refund my deposit money. I am a reasonable man but, 10 months is a lot longer than 12 weeks. And refusing to talk with me about my concern is very disheartening to me. Anyone have thoughts?

If they have a brick and mortar business I would show up there in person and get some answers. Every contractor business is very short staffed because of nnalert and they may have over bid what they can do. If so they might only be taking care of the customers making the most noise. You may have to start making some noise to get the results you want. I'm a contractor too and have been there however when I got over bid I started turning work down until I got things under control.

Have you contacted Carolina Carports directly?

I have bought two from CC over the years but before the panic of 2020.

They might be actively stalling as long as possible so as not to complete the order at a loss.

The sales agreement should have terms covering timely delivery issues.

When I got mine, probably 10 years ago, they gave me a date that they would put it up. Called the day before to make sure I'd be here. About 10 AM a truck and trailer pulled in, 3 men (I don't think that 2 of them could speak English) got out. By 1:15, they had my check for the balance, and were driving out the driveway. No problems what so ever.

That is what i am saying. I have tried several times to reach them by phone. They never answer just, let it
go to voice mail and have never returned my calls. I have sent email after email that are verified sent but,
i have yet to get a return email. I have gone back to the person who sold me the carport and took my deposit
and gave the invoice several times also. I was told by this person that Carolina Carports still want my money
and will call when they are ready to install. I have been extremely courteous so far but, i need my carport.
As i said the person that took my deposit refuses to return it. I have a contract but, it seems its not worth
the paper it was printed on. I would go with another company but, i hate to lose my deposit money. I have
researched complaints against the company and many have been filed. It unclear how many have been resolved. I
was just trying to determine if anyone here had trouble with this outfit like i have.

I would go to the person that took my deposit.
With all the paperwork and printed out emails even if there are no replies.

Before entering turn on the video record function on my cellphone and place it in my shirt pocket.

And stand in his office until he refunds in cash or threatens to call the cops on me for trespass.

As soon as he makes that threat or any other threat, start calling in the cops for a theft or threatened bodily harm if he goes there.

I don't deal with Carolina Carports just never have so don't know anything about them.

The folks I normally deal with are at least 20 weeks out on installs. You pay a deposit of 10% that stays with the selling dealer so the dealer would be out only his time if he refunded you the 10%... It may have went up to 15% the more I think about it it did. All the transactions I have dealt with the installer/supplier does not get their money till the building is installed.

How much was the deposit.

It's a big company. I think they will eventually come through for you. They are just overwhelmed. I went to their website and they admit to having problems getting orders out and have suspended sales to three states.

I was ready to order from Carolina Carport this this summer, but started hearing A LOT of stories just like yours and got scared. I ended up buying from Eagle Carport, and was told 4-6 weeks and I'm on week 6 so we'll see. My dealer said she used to sell Carolina but the company was terrible so she dropped them.

Old Ford Mechanic. 3 things need to be factored in. 1- if bought in 2020 the price of ALL metal nation wide increased in 2021 which effects seller and buyers. 2- delivery I was told was extended to 2-3 months rather than 8-12 weeks due to shortage of steel materials. That is for ALL companies that build products with steel. 3- because of the hurricanes that hit Cameron La twice Sept 2020, many steel made buildings and covers sold so much in that area including all of Lake Charles that it most probably loaded down the planning departments at the end manufacturing plants. Many people in that part of the south rely heavily on these buildings and covers.

Now I dont work for any of these manufacturing plants and do not agree with the way they are treating you you sir. I know you are frustrated as I would be, but please try to negotiate with Carolina Carports a little bit more and hopefully all will turn out fine. Wingnut

Before you record anyone make sure you are not in a two-person state. Some places it is illegal to voice record a person without theor permission. Linda Tripp was taken down by that.

I payed a 10% deposit as you said. I received a invoice and contract for the building. It states on the
contract that there would be at least a 12 week waiting period for installation. Date of payment was 10-19-
2020. Due to the pandemic and other factors i was not overly concerned until this reached 6 months with no
communication from them. The selling agent has been a total jerk about trying to help me or giving a refund
on the deposit. Worst outfit i have ever dealt with.

Nearly everyone is short handed, short of materials, and short of time due to the panic of 2020 and 2021. I understand you want it done but I do not think they are unreasonable yet. i would give it several more months. CC is a large reputable company but some dealers may not be up to par, but I would give CC more time for sure.

Thanks for the reply. Really seems that just waiting will be my only choice. I really have no interest in
filing a lawsuit or anything like that. I do need the carport but, been getting along without it so, i will
wait them out a little longer.

I bought a carport from a local dealer not knowing that Carolina Carports was actually the company that would be doing the installation. Local dealer wrote on contract it would be completed in 10 weeks. 10 weeks came and went with no carport and then local dealer tells me he didnt have anything to do with installation. It would be up to Carolina Carport to decide when it was installed, even though that information was not disclosed to me at time of sale.
I demanded my deposit to be returned which at first he refused. Needless to say, I was very irate. After several arguments and threats, he sent my deposit back.
After several months, they finally installed the carport but I will never do business with them again.
And, by the way, this was before the nnalert virus so this is just their normal business practice.

Another alternative would be to find another builder that can build one for you sooner (if available) and just forefit your downpayment.
