Got the combine I picked up from Tom in Wyoming last week all serviced and ready to go to work.

This machine is in a whole lot better shape than my old one. The previous owner of my old one must have been the type that just left off anything that was hard to put back when making repairs. As I was going over this one I kept seeing things on it that my old one didn't have. At least 6 pieces of steel that were to keep grain going where it was supposed to were not even there. Even the ladder to the cab was a hack job. I always thought that was the most inconvenient machine to climb in I ever had, turn out the ladder was not the right one. When they have the correct ladder they are as easy as any to get in. Lol.

Anyway, this one is nice and with only around 2,000 hours should last me the rest of my lifetime. I'm going to try to cut the oats this weekend if the weather is good, then combine next week or weekend.

Looks like a good machine. What's that hydraulic valve assembly on the front of the operators platform do? Not familiar with that type of pickup attachment here in Kansas.

The hydraulic thing is for an auto header height control for a bean head. Before the were standard equipment many aftermarket companies sold them. This is one of those. The header is to pick up windrows of swathed grain. We do that a lot up here to help get the grain dry sooner and to get any weeds to dry.

I don't have the factory wheel weights but made a bracket for a bunch of front weights on my other machine. Will have to get that moved over to this one.

I will have to look at one of my parts machines and see if I have 4 extras. I have 2 weights on each rear wheel and sometimes think I should have more.

(quoted from post at 09:18:54 08/05/21) Wow that is one clean good looking machine. Is it a twin to your other one ?
ot as nice as jon's Case, but my contribution to keeping old iron working IH-101

Nice machine, a good windrow pickup is good to find now-a-days. This fall will you leave the bean head on one machine and the corn head on the other?

No, my old one is now strictly a parts machine. Would take another parts machine to get it going right. May pick up another smaller one from Tom some day to do that.

I agree with SV, super nice looking machine. Saw very few in the rice area where I grew up and we had a good local Case dealership. Lot of Case tractors....

He has several models he uses, but his main one is the larger 1660. He was using a little 600 a couple days back. He has at least one other 1160 and a 1060 which is similar as well.
