Second cutting hay earlier this week. This is a small field west of the barn and house. Planted it two years ago. Tractor is a Super MTA with a 115 mid mount sickle that I use for emergencies and to clean up edges. IH 990 haybine held together with spit and good intentions, but it does an excellent job for a unit that broke in half several years ago and had to be blocked and welded back together.

Same tractor with a Ford 12' field cultivator and a Remlinger spike harrow prepping a field for more grass hay. This tractor has done hay alone for the 20 years I have owned it. It had a nice IH growl from the engine as it finished this field. Almost sounded like it was enjoying itself. Another small field on the opposite side of the barn/house. About 10 acres. Chiseled with the Glencoe. Could have gone straight to the cultivator but ran the 18' disk around it first to knock down the ridges and make it easier on me and the old tractor. The big dog in the process was the 1586 IH. Pretty here now that the rain has slacked off.

Looks like the all too common flood-stunted corn along the headland. Just like central NY. Most corn planted and big soon enough looks great. With the later planted some of it was small enough when the monsoons hit, it's suffering.

Yup...water runs down the hay field and out of the woods on the right. It puddles on the headland and moves to the left and exits to the east. I will probably extend a strip of grass around the corner of the woods. Corn will not grow there but hay will and it dries it up. Better than wasting seed and it will square up that field to make combining easier.

That's a beautiful area. Hay looks good and corn too (aside from the low spot).

Ooohhhh, if we'd had woods like that surrounding us- our kiddles would have disappeared into them and never have come out, when I called them to supper. LOL

Gets better than that! There is a good size creek in the tree line in the back. Brings out the kid in me poking around back there. Nice to hear from you. I don't get over to Tales much anymore. :)
