JD 3010 and hydraulic cylinder

First post. I am excited to be on this forum. I was recently able to obtain my dad's 1963 John Deere 3010 which he bought new in 1964 (left over inventory). He sold it to a neighbor in about 1992. The neighbor passed away earlier this year and I was able to buy the tractor from his partner. Dad grew up on a share cropper farm and bought his first farm in about 1952 or 53 (I was born in 59). According to what I have been told his first tractor was an A/C but I'm not sure of the size. He then bought a JD H, then a 50. I'm not sure if he traded both or just one in on the 3010 but from the H onward all his personal tractors were John Deere: 430, 520, 4010, early 4020, late 4020, and 4630 (not in sequential order). We did have a couple of IH (706, 1456) and one Ford (9000) on the farm that belonged to my brother.
What I would really like to know is where I might find a hydraulic cylinder of the type that JD sold in the early 1960s. I have a JD #5 mower that I would like to use with this tractor but I don't have a cylinder to lift it. I would like to keep things as original as possible. Thanks for any suggestions.

I see them come up on craigslist from time to time. The JD. guys on here will know for sure but I think they used the same remote cylinder from the 620 right on through the 4440. During the era of your 3010 they were painted green and I think for the new generation they started painting them black.

I pulled one out of a pile of scrap metal about 20 years ago. I think it needs a couple of internal parts but looked to be fixable. Been in my garage since. Ill take a picture and post it. Where you located?

Forgot to add, I am located in Cleveland, MS but the tractor is at my mom's place near Booneville, MS. Hopefully, I can find one fairly close by. Thanks for the replies.

The two cylinder had low pressure cylinder and the new gen had high pressure cylinders I cant remember how to tell for sure I think the green are low black is high dont quote me

The earlier low pressure cylinders had pipe threads for the hose connections, the later high pressure cylinders had o-ring fittings.

Welcome to YT
I have 2 hyd cylinders that my Dad purchased with a new 3010. The 3010 with gasoline engine was traded for a 4030 but the cylinders remained. I utilized one of the cylinders on the tongue of a JD 347 sq baler until I sold it last yr. Correct 3X8 cylinders for 3010 will have 3/4'' ORB female orifices to attach the hyd hoses.

Go by what DEERETAILS is telling you. Do not rely on paint color. For John Deere 3010 a remote cylinder with two hoses with ORING fitting screwing into cylinder.. Hi-pressure..

NO ONE SAiD go by paint color I stated green was low pressure black was high pressure and I wasnt one hundred percent sure of that
