I replaced the pto clutch plates on my case 930 diesel because it wouldnt shut off. Pto works fine just very dangerous not being able to shut it off. My problem is now I cant get it to spap into engaged position. I can adjust the tension though a small covered side hole but it wont stay engaged. Pto is on all the time! Any ideas on what I can try next short of pulling the pto and pump off again? Its a big job! Thanks in advance for any ideas

Lots of questions need to be asked here. Do you have a
service manual and use it when you put it together? They are
pretty simple and easy to do, but can easily be done wrong.
Did you pre set the clutch before installation? Did you set it
by the book after? Are you sure the discs are in in the right
order and there are the correct number? Did you replace all
three parts, disc, spring, and plate? Did you check and
replace the brake if worn?

How do you preset the clutch? I have an owners manual but its a very old manual and very basic in instructions, replaced discs and steel plates and spring plates in the same order as how they came out, same number of plates.Dont know if this is important, just brainstorming last night in bed,but the pushing lugs that connects to the springs, Do they have to be in a certain position to push clutch to engage position, over center so that it snaps in? Thanks for the reply!

Brake was worn a little but the screws were still way down in the attachment holes. I am thinking that something isnt put together right!!

If you didn't preset the clutch it probably is either too tight and won't snap over or more likely too loose and hasn't gotten tight enough to snap over yet. As far as coasting goes, you either did something wrong in the assembly or the brake isn't holding.

I can pull up on the lever and feel resistance there but lever wants to return down. I think I have gotten it tight enough because of the resistance felt.Hoping not to have to pull out again!!

Takes a good stout pull on the lever. But if you have it too tight you can pull hard enough to get it over center and that can lead to dragging
