Can't find CASE IH 265 offset in these forums. What is

client has a 265 offset that starts hard with lots of black smoke out the exhaust before it runs.
Then it's pretty decent.
Which forum can address this? 265 is not listed in Case of Farmall IH forums...

The 265 was a Mitsubishi based offset built for CaseIH, I think it used the same engine as the CIH 275 compact tractor.
 
I'd check fuel, air and glow plugs. Those Mitsubishi engines usually need the glow plugs working for a cold start. Does it have
the glow plug indicator on the dash?
 

Yeah, the little glow indicator works...can't say the glow plugs do.
Air filter removed. Refuse to use ether. The previous 265 got lots of ether and when I tore it down, the pistons and wall were wasted.

Why not new glow plugs....hmmm
 

Right. I remember it's a Mitsubishi with a K3H 3 cyl engine.

So, makes sense I can't find a 265 on the list....
 
new NGK glow plugs don't make any difference...
The old ones test out at .6-.9 ohms, matching the new ones...

How about timing? I believe the timing is set by shimming the cover.

Also there is a chronic leak at the injector plunger head...should get that sorted too....
 

Compression test real bad cyls 2,3 are real low.
Dumped oil in the glow plug hole, compression came right up.

Later tore engine down....piston rings had been replaced on bad pistons, and oversize rings etc. not available.
Top rings in cyl 2,3 were in many small pieces.

Engine needs to be sleeved, no oversize pistons available.
