B414 power take of not disengaging when i shove clutch i..Have to shut off engine put in gear and then restart Clutch seems to be adjuusted properly..Thanks in advance..
 
You will need to pick the window tab to see on a phone. Scroll down to find the image. The clutch is 2 stage and the PTO should disengage after the drive clutch. The adjustment needs to be by the book. A failed PTO throwout bearing, linkage, or fingers on the pressure plate may contribute.

Apparently, you are not having any problem shifting the transmission into gear?

You must have the "dual clutch with constant-running PTO" option.

Most likely, the PTO part of the dual clutch is either rusted "stuck" (10, 11, and 12) or damaged and a "split" will be required to repair it.

Hi, as well as checking the clutch adjustment make sure that the left foot rest has not been bent upwards limiting the clutch travel and as others have said could be PTO clutch disk may be rusted to either plate item #10 or #12 with reference to parts diagram that Wore Out posted.
The other problem that happens is Set Screw item # 3 wares a groove into the clutch release fingers, so by turning Set Screw #3 one quarter turn clockwise that will position the head of the set screw out of the worn groove. This can be done through the clutch inspecting plate on the bottom of the bell housing, also make sure the fingers are all set at the same height, all contacting the throughout bearing at the same time when the clutch is depressed. Some models pressure plate have set screws with locking nuts on them and others are just a slotted screw.

PS NEVER FORCE the PTO lever into gear with the tractor running or you will shear off the pin on the PTO actuating mechanism.
