Read on here that ATF is good to help stop oil leakage so how much would i add to my b414 gear case to slow the brake shaft leak as it is not to bad and a big big job to change the seal...Thanks in advance..

I'd always heard brake fluid, DOT 3, was the cure for hardened seals.

The real products are more likely to do what you ask. Lucas products have a reputation that has been proven. Using ATF, or Brake Fluid in proportions that may either not do what you want, or over do it and turn seals into jelly, seems risky. Jim

Just like sawdust in the differential, Brake fluid for transmission, engine seals is only to defraud the potential buyer. Last ditch fix if you know what I mean.

If it is not leaking to bad run it check oil and fix when the time comes.

I put the recommended CNH oil in Jubilee.
Constant stream of oil out input shaft.
Went back to 90w140 GL, slight drip.
Don't think heavy oil in an old gear box will hurt. Most likely that's what they used 70 years ago.

Lucas sells some wonder glob that will swell and soften some kinds of seals .
Of course the proper fix is a proper fix .
Corn head grease or one of these products .

Is the oil in the gearcase of my b414 not the same oil that operates my hydraulics??
