Sediment bowl type coolant filter on rad hose .....

There is a 1928 Hupmobile on the Hemmings auction site today which shows (in one of the engine compartment photos) what appears to be a sediment-type bowl filter setup which is mounted on the upper radiator hose. I've never seen anything like this and even doing some Google searching shows nothing. I wish I could save/copy the photo and post it here but that doesn't work. The best I can do is post the link (below) and then once you get to the car on that site, scroll down to see the engine photos and you'll see what I am referring to.

Champion Radiators makes several to fit modern rad hose sizes.
Not a sediment bowl type but inline.

Not in a position to work as a "sediment" bowl. Looks more like it is being used as a sight glass?
