adding flashing lights to tractor

Depends on how simple or complicated you want to go. Simple, just a blinking light, switch, and voltage source

I added 2 to the back of my 1550. I used a toggle switch, flasher unit and 2 lights and a roll of wire. I had an unused fuse holder that I hooked to, wired so that when the key is off, power is cut to the fuse.

If you're trying to flash a couple of LED lights, Grote part number 44010.
Others, even from Grote, don't seem to work well without enough current draw.
Yes, they are expensive, but they work with LED and incandescent lights.

If you're using incandescent lights, a standard two wire automotive
flasher unit can be wired in and will work for less money.

I put a light on left and one on right. Put a flasher on each light and a double throw switch. Flip the switch the flasher would be by passed and light stayed on and other light was now a turn signal. Also the flashers flashed at different rates and lights would flash togather then slowly change to alternating and back. This caught drivers attention more

You didn't mention what tractor. . .

Here's what I put on my Deeres. No fenders, so I had to improvise a post to mount it on. The flasher is in the battery box under the seat.

I re-wired my Deere headlight switch. It had a dim headlights position, and I removed the resistor and wired it so the hazard light will flash with the headlights on for night travel, or it will flash by itself for day travel. It's really simple wiring - if you sit down and think it out you'll have it solved in no time.

I used a motorcycle flasher on one tractor. On two others I found a flasher on ebay that will flash an LED properly, plus it will also work on positive ground tractors.

you can buy those amber revolving lights that are magnetic. stick it on the cab and plug it into the cigar lighter. many farmers use them here as hopper full signals on their combines. but dont know what tractor your talking about so final results may vary.

Rustred, they also make those magnetic amber flashers that take
a few double A batteries and have a remote to turn them on and
off from inside the cab. My brother-in-law bought me one for my
snow plow tractor. I love it! But the batteries die pretty quickly if I
forget to take it inside out of the cold during the winter in Michigan.

yes, that is the problem with battery ones. only good for short use. maybe jackie gleason would get a kick out of it.

I forget the cost since I got them several years ago for oversize work. they go in the rubber grommet the tail lights go into and flash when turned on with the truck lights. I just change them out with regular lights when done with them. There is also a model that has a switch on them to turn the flash on and off. Never got into that much of it.

Many new tractors and combines come with 4 way flashers.
Not sure if they are required by law, just a good idea.
