Jacked up the front end

Removed the electric pto clutch. Sure enough bearing is locked up solid.
WD40 didn't work.
Going to other pole barn and use 20 ton pressure to remove bearings

Then stop by Coldwell Bearings and pick up a new bearings on my way back south.
I feel lucky to have businesses in town and not drive 30 miles each way to get parts.
Happy days

I too have a GT 275. Bought it new in 1998 and it's been a good mower. One thing I've seen others do when mowing, when turning around on a driveway for instance, they stop the mower blades and a few seconds later back on. Some start and stop many times in a short time. I don't stop the blades hardly at all, even getting off the mower (I put a cheater on the seat switch- I don't recommend this for everyone) I don't usually stop the blades but am careful getting off and on. In my theory it's easier on the clutch. (I know some will say that's too dangerous)

To add to that...

I always idle down before engaging the clutch. Easier on the clutch and belts.

Another clutch killer is running with a low battery or non working charging system. The alternator will barely keep up with the demand, jumping one off and running it is asking for trouble!

Jim and Russ,
Some people have to have the right tools.
For me it's the challenge too as much as it is saving money.
I never rebuilt a Dana rear end on a terramite before, but I got her done.
I don't see what will keep me from pressing in a new bearing and getting it back together.
I wonder how many on YT-ers grew up on a farm, true get her done country boys?

I second that.

A year ago last winter, I dropped the deck out from under our Toro zero turn mower 'cause a couple of the spindles were a bit loose. I had the underside of the deck sand blasted, put new paint on it and reassembled it with all new spindles. The belt looked OK so I didn't change it.

Guess what failed halfway through the next season?

Half the time the parts cost as much as the whole clutch like in this case. Though not sure what the bearings cost for this. I'd like to see somebody replace the bearings in these newer ford front axles with the 4wd. since the one race is a molded part of the forging. They don't come out and when bad are surely to rough to put new bearings into. Those cost 400.00 plus 15 years ago.
