Ohio BMV notice

They are currently NOT pro-rating renewal stickers. I had two months to go before renewal, so I walked in with $240. Sticker cost $700 because nobody knows whether you were driving it or not (stated to me by the registrar). Then in two months it will be another $700 for 2022 and I should be caught up. The purpose of this post is to suggest getting current with your plates if at all possible, because it appears that there will be no allowance given for vehicles parked over the winter. The Wu-Flu got this thing started, and with Delta Variant on the horizon who knows how long this will go on.

I take it the registration expired in Sept of 2020.
And you wanted to now renew it two months before the next anniversary date?

It appears the governor made all vehicle registrations that expired March 2020 thru March 2021, valid until July 2021.

So you all have to pay for the time after yours expired.
Unless you had the registration cancelled instead.
It appears you would have gotten a rebate back on the unused months if it had been cancelled by you.

I foudd out that this July when I went to get the tag for my truck that was inoperatable since last labor day as my birthday is september 11. I could have got them sooner but I waited untill the normal part year time was past to do it. And the way they messed up things at the DMV office if they have the mail in registration yet I am going to do that but I never did it before. I am in northwest central Ohio. Found out you also don't need a front plate any more.

Between your license fees and speed traps for out of staters, you do have mostly desent roads. Now if Michigan would just go after the 90MPH Ohio drivers, we might improve our roads. LOL

California has some problems, but the DMV isn't one of them. For around 20.00 I can put a vehicle in non op status for years if I want. If I want to take it out in a couple months just pay the current fees. Which do go up every year. My own opinion, others may have DMV problems. Stan

Most of that $700 is taxes and you already knew you weren't going to get out of paying them.

I think our non weighted plates are $20. At renewal you pay that plus county property tax on the vehicle plus the fire district tax. If you are late getting your tag like you were the new sticker is for the month you get it. You will pay a fine for being late unless you convince them it wasn't operational.

In MN you can drop vehicle insurance for the periods that you don't drive the vehicle, but you can't drop the registration. If you let the registration lapse, you have to pay for the entire lapse when you renew the registration. I'm not sure how it works if you sell an unregistered vehicle. Newer vehicles have a registration tax based on their pro-rated value, vehicles older than about ten years old just have a registration fee of around $50 per year for a car or pickup.

Guess I am lucky, in indiana we playe farm trucks for the empty weight. That is only good for hauling grain, hay etc. Haul rock or fertilizer and your in violation.

ah No , it is because i got my Donkey shot up in Nam . Wounded Vet's get something for the lost hide you DONATED . as if Nam was not a hostel place to start with End of January 68 it got really hot during the Tet offensive and from the second night of it we were in a fire fight almost every day till i got pulled out mid May .

Not sure what is a normal plate in OH. In MI when I dropped my annual apportioned plate it was costing me about $2600.00 for 100,000LBS plate this is on a semi for the 100,000LBS. 1400 for a farm plate sounds high to me. Mine run about $140.00 this is a semi.
