General Tractor

Anyone hazard a guess to the value of a fully restored General tractor manufactured by the Cleveland Tractor Company?

Thanks

My guess $2000 to $3000 depending upon the level of restoration. I had one of these, a Cletrac GG, they are unique but not exceptionally rare. Quite primitive compared to other tractors of the time period. Hercules motor. They were also sold by Montgomery Wards as Twin Row and an Avery if I recall correctly. A buyer who is looking for something unusual would be your best bet.

That seems fair. You could easily have that in new tires or a rebuild of that pricey engine. They are truly a primitive machine with few useful features and a horribly un-ergonomic method of implement lift (BOTH the manual lift and the later B.F. Avery Tru-Draft system). They did have a decent IBX 4 cylinder Hercules engine and a industry standard Clark 3speed transaxle, but that was all tied together by a set of wimpy c-channel frame rails that would flex like wet noodles when wallowing through a shallow ditch!

I'm going to guess that you can spend more money restoring most tractors than you can sell them for. New tires aren't cheap. So restore a tractor you plan to use. OR restore a family tractor.
