Loading the trailer plow

Looking for ideas for loading a trailer plow on a gooseneck without a loader. Ive seen a sheet of plywood used to slide the bottoms on. Thinking of getting a 3 - 16 hydraulic plow to pull behind my John Deere G and thought maybe somebody may have a neat idea as to how to load and unload it.

It's a trailer plow, has wheels. Can't you just pull it on with the tractor and back it off?

Should not need plywood to slide anything. It's on wheels. Any time I've seen a trailer plow on a plow day they just push, tow, or winch it up the ramp.

If you have a loader at home, put the plow on the front of the trailer, hooked to the tractor, and drive it off at the plowing site. After plowing, drive tractor and plow on the trailer to unload at home.

Good luck. At our plow days, guys have tried to back them off. I always have to at the very least chain on to the tail wheel, lift it up and guide it off. Let us know if you come up with anything.

The last time I bought one out of a fence row I just backed my trailer up to it, put the ramp down, and used a come along to pull it up.

When we were doing plow days we pulled the plow up on the trailer with the tractor and we used some oak boards to slide the points over the end of the trailer if need be. To unload we unhooked the plow and guided it back by hand until the tail wheel got on the ground and then pulled the trailer ahead to get the front of the ramps.

On top of not being easy to back most have very little ground
clearance so they will bottom out on the beaver tail or going
over the ramps.

That's because the lift linkages are worn and out of adjustment. Fix them and the plow has plenty of ground clearance.

If the tail wheel is turned around to back off and the drawbar is tight and not swinging it should back off decent. Now if it is like our old oliver plow with the ring in the tongue it may not back so well. Then just as was said put plow on first with loader and pull off then drive on to come home and unload with loader.
