two cycle gas in tractor

I accidentally mixed some two cycle gas up at the wrong ratio. Any problem with just putting it in my tractor? Thanks.

Wont hurt a thing. Might want to thin it down some but the only problem you could have would be fouled plugs.

Nope, it will run fine on it. I do this every so often in mine too, when the power saw gas gets a bit old.

Too much oil or too little? How much are we talking about?

You could always cut it with regular fuel if it was too rich for your 2-cycle use. Or add oil to bring it up to the right mix if it was mixed with too little oil.

However, a half gallon of 2-cycle oil in a gas tank with 5 gallons of regular gas would probably not be noticed in most of yesterday's tractors, other than a little smoke.

I used too much. I just rebuilt my chainsaw with a new cylinder and piston. The saw place told me to use a little extra oil in the mix with the first tank. I went a little too heavy so I just started with a new mix. I didn't want to take a chance and diluting the heavy mix too much and messing up the rebuild. Thanks for the replies.

Its fine,I burn my leftover mix every spring in the tractors. I mix a couple of gal for the weed eater and chainsaw in the spring(real gas no ethanol)most of it is left over.

You could probably run it in the saw just fine. The older saws used to run 16:1; newer saws run 40:1 or even 50:1. Most of this change is due to emissions regulations and not so much that the saw can't run on the richer mixture. The saw will smoke some, but I doubt it would do any damage.

Not sure that was sound advise from the saw shop.

I would go strictly by the manufacturers recommendation, run the same ratio, use premium oil, premium non ethanol gas maybe buy a can of the premix).

Vary the load, don't lug it, don't attack the biggest oak in the woods! Do some light work, some delimbing, get some easy time on it before the heavy, marathon, full throttle work. And do use a sharp chain!

The mixed gas will be fine in the tractor.

I wouldnt be afraid to run it in your tractor, ACTUALLY I have added some low ash two cycle oil in the gas my tractors for long term storage and they did fine both before and after storage.

No harm at all. I use 32:1 pre mix chain saw fuel when I need to prime the carburetor on the 52 Merc. It fires right up and runs fine on that. I figure that little bit of oil in the fuel will help lubricate the rings on cold start.

JT,
What's your reasoning for adding oil to gas for long term storage?
I have some retired lawn mowers, semi retired generators, and the Jubilee.
I just drained the old gas and added a gallon of new.

Should be fine. Years ago I ran our Allis B out of gas while cutting wood. I got it home on the straight 2 cycle mix we used for the saws. Smoked some, but made it home OK.

That's what I do with my left over two cycle gas. I put it in the old Case SC. It burns it just fine. Tried it once in the old 9n. it didn't like it.

Not sure what model tractor you have, but it wont hurt it. I put my leftover 2 cycle gas/oil in my 1946 JD B it doesnt harm it. Usually not more than a half gallon at most. Liked it better than the mid grade I put in it last year.

It doesn't hurt a thing. Worst case you see a little extra blue smoke out of the exhaust for a while, but if you're dumping it into a full tank of gasoline, you probably won't even notice anything in the exhaust.

I'm a bit skeptical on the "benefits" and "magical effects" that 2-stroke oil has on a 4-stroke engine, though. Nobody has offered any scientific proof, just catch phrases that are passed down through the generations at local diners and internet forum sites. All I know is it does no harm in simple carburetor engines.
