places to visit in S.W. North Carolina

Getting ready to visit daughter in Murphy, N.C. and wondering if there are places a tractor junkie could visit and pass the time of day. Any thing with old equipment and/or engines to see? Thanks for any pointers that you can share.
 
Not tractor related, but not too far away from Murphy is Cherokee, NC. There is an outdoor drama in Cherokee telling the stories of the Cherokee Indians.
 
The Southteast Old Thresher's Reunion is going on July 1-5. Its in central NC about 3-4 hours from Murphy.

If you like old Harley's there is Wheels Through Time museum in Maggie Valley. I've never been there, but they have some good Youtube videos.

There will also be the 'High Country Crank-up at Boone, near the end of July.
 
Not tractor but you will be oh too close to Wheels Through Time museum to pass it up. Incredible. All American motorcycles and related. I spent an hour just staring at the board track racers. Too cool to miss.
 
There's Chimney Rock State Park and the Linville Caverns. The Thereshers Reunion in Denton is about an hour from me. It is usually very hot there, much more than the mountain sites.
 
There was a tractor club in Murphy I was a founding member of. Dont know if it still viable. However there is the 10 commandants on a hillside that can be seen from airliner called Fields of the Woods. Also a Folk school John Campbell ion Brasstown Across the street from the Folk School is a violin maker who makes wooden instruments. Going towards Tennessee on 64 74 there are lots of rafting companies to go down the Ocoee River. i livedd there for 12 years and became enthralled with the area. I was sorry to have to leave
 
Jim you are right about it being hot at the Denton Farm Park. I've been many times there and always wondered why it was held at such a hot time of the year. We always have to stop by the ice cream man many times to get something good to cool off with.
 

I think the weather for this weekend is high 70's low 80's it would be a good time to spend a day at Denton.

If you did nothing but ride around the mountains of NC it would make for a nice day...
