Some of you may remember the Montana/Farmtrac tractor I build last fall using a Ford 3930 engine along with Ford hydraulic and power steering pumps

It has proved to be a great little haying tractor and has been part of out haying operation this year

Well Friday after only 47 hours of use the new water pump we had installed during the build failed. The 3930 engine had been setting in the shop for 6-7 years and the tractors engine had been disassembled for 4 years so I didn't trust either of those water pumps and decided to go with a new aftermarket

Due to a ongoing project taking up my small one bay shop I'm outside in the sun with 89 degree temp and 67% humidity sweeting my behind off

But we'll get it going after a bit of lunch and a dry shirt, still have 600+ rolls in the fields to load haul out

I have found that a lot of aftermarket comes from the land of almost right and it can be a crap shoot whether you get a good one or not. Just ordered a new injection pump
from deere I know it came from china. a rebuilt one $2000 new one $1500

It was made in the land of we'll build it to whatever price point you are willing to pay for, ordered by the land of get it produced for as little money as possible, and purchased by the land of balk at the price of quality parts and buy the cheapest thing you can find, then complain that the parts are no good.

Yea I called my NH dealer to get a factory reman but they didnt have anything in stock
Called a dealer 50 miles away and all they had was another aftermarket so thats what went back on

I'v had good luck with the after market pumps, but I wonder if they pressed the impeller on too far? or bad seal? bad bearing? Hope this one lasts longer. Notice you pulled the thermostat housing as well.

Bearing failed allowing the impeller to rub against the housing
Temp gauge wasn't moving much so I replaced the thermostat to, after 2 hours moving hay this afternoon in 90 degree temps it only moved up about 1/8" above cold
Looks like the Farmtrac gauge and Ford sender are not compatible.
