1940 John Deere H

Loren welcome to YT! I am no Deere expert but did you check for fuel flow at the line where it connects to the carb? That
is where I would start on a red tractor. The JD gurus will chime in a direct you further.

Is the gas turned on?? Do you have a good steady flow of gas from the carb drain plug that will fill a pint jar in less then 3 minutes and 2 is even better?

gas turned on, valve turned to correct position and have gas in sediment bowl in bottom of carb. Not getting gas from carb to cylinders.

If it has the original fuel line there is a strainer inside the fitting on the carb, could be blocked. Did you open the petcock on the bowl to see if gas is there?
Start at the top and work your way down. If the carb is getting gas flow the that's probably where the problem is.

Strainer is cleaned, petcock has been opened and fuel there but not getting into the cylinders. Any other thoughts?

well as with any carb, if the jet is plugged it will not suck the gas. do a carb cleaning . tractor make or model dont matter one bit. its a
carburator and they need to be cleaned every so often.

Clogged main jet will cause that. If it was a number of other tractors I would say pull the carb intake tube off and hold you hand over the intake and see if it has a good suction but don't think that is easy on that tractor
