Difference between a ACDelco PF63 and a PF63E?

Changed the oil in my 2015 Chevrolet Silverado with the 5.3 liter engine last week. Took off an AC Delco PF63E and installed a PF63. Owners manual calls for a PF63. I think the PF63E might have came out a little later time wise. Was the PF63E made to replace the PF63? I believe the PF63E has a little stronger bypass spring in them making sure more if not all of the oil goes through the filter paper. Is that right? Which one should I be using? Thanks.

The PF63E has a higher bypass pressure vs PF63 (15psi to 22psi) The PF63E came out at least a year before 2015. The PF63E is an upgraded part, it should be used in place of the PF63 and yes it replaces/phases out the PF63, it is superior in many ways, not just bypass pressure, I'd use it.

I wouldn't use an AC Delco filter on that truck at all. Those are hit or miss if they will restrict and cause low indicated oil pressure and possible AFM lifter damage. I usually see those trucks for a low oil pressure concern 1500-2000 miles after they got the loss leader oil change at a dealer. I change the oil and filter using a WIX filter and the gauge will then show 20-40 lbs more oil pressure than before. I have seen the Delco filters go as low as 0 on the gauge. Delco has had trouble with their filters on the AFM Gen 4 and Gen 5 engines since about '07. They seem unconcerned, or unable, to fix the problem.

If you can still buy the PF63 new in the store, it does not seem like the PF63E has "supplanted," "replaced," or "phased out" at all. Especially considering that the PF63E has been out for years as you say.

In other words there is no way after 6 years that there are still that many NOS PF63's floating around that you should still be able to buy one anywhere Delco filters are sold.

If delco filters are so bad, Why have all my new GM cars and trucks come from the factory with delco filters?
For over 20 years not one of my GM engines have had an engine failure using delco filters.

Please post a link to why delco filters are bad.

Just saying.
Use what you want, it's your money.
I'm going to use what my dealer puts on my vehicles.

Going back to my 1997 GMC used delco pf47,

Now they changed to PF47E.
I don't know what the difference is.
Just removed this pf47e from my 2007 GMC truck.

It's only the PF63E. They don't work for long on late model gm V8s with AFM. I do this for living. I take off 2 or 3 PF63E filters a month at my shop for low oil pressure. GM havs a bulletin about it, but they don't seem to care to fix the issue.

Also, the Delco filters that come from the factory are not sold to the public. The original filters have different red label and a red silicone gasket. AFAIK, the original V8 filter is a PF63, no E. The E core filters are cheaper.
